Match Report
Cathedral School, Llandaff Boys-U9 Red vs  St John's-on-the-Hill Dean Close
On: Saturday, 19 Jan 2019
Venue: Away

The U9s travelled to St John’s-On-the-Hill, Chepstow for the first fixture of the season. In difficult conditions both teams had enough for two five a-side teams, this ensured no one was freezing on the touch line!

Both CSL teams played exceptionally well. After some torrential downpours overnight, the St John’s pitches were quite wet but this didn’t stop both CSL teams from passing the ball at every opportunity. Max W created lots with some accurate passes allowing Cory G, Nate A some excellent opportunities on goal. Likewise, Seb T and Corey G also managed to find Max W on numerous occasions allowing him a number of shots on target. Ben T added to the quality on show in the second half and again peppered the St John’s goal.

On the other pitch, Charles C seemed to cover every blade of grass and beat numerous players to score a couple of great goals. Rahul O also created many opportunities and along with Leo J, who provided some excellent passes for Charles C and Rahul O to work off. Evan S was rock solid in defence and Harri T had numerous opportunities, demonstrating good skill to turn and beat defenders in the second half.

I was really pleased with the spirit these matches were played. Although CSL dominated for long periods, both CSL teams demonstrated great sportsmanship and collegiate spirit which, personally, was the most pleasing aspect of the morning.

Well done to all who played.
