The 2nd XV played their second match of the season against Llandovery College, a school with a deep rugby pedigree who always provide strong opposition. With the return of scrum half terrier Jake J, CSL were raring to build upon their previous performance and set their stall out for the rest of the season, which is exactly what they did. Starting the match with furious intensity, hard tackles and powerful collisions in contact rumbled the Llandovery team, most notably from forwards Mike N, Josh B, Ollie S and Sam C. One lapse in defensive organisation allowed Llandovery to show how dangerous they can be in broken play as their start centre tore away up the pitch to open the scoring. However, this proved to be a catalyst for CSL, who remained resolute in defence and accurate in attack as they built a tremendous performance. Fast attacking phases overloaded the opposition defence and gaps began to appear with flying full back Jay K taking full advantage to score from a jinking run. Man of the match Sam C crashed over the line to score the first of his two tries from a powerful pick and go at the base of a scrum. Fly half Finn H and Centre Joe B also carved their way over the try line, with Finn adding a penalty to stretch the lead. Llandovery pulled themselves back into the game as momentum changed back and for, but despite immense pressure from the visiting mid wales team and a mass of penalties conceded, CSL held on to clinch victory 32-24. A scintillating performance and a great statement of intent for the season ahead.
