Match Report
Cathedral School, Llandaff Boys-U12A vs  Clifton College Prep Boys-U13B
On: Saturday, 18 Jan 2020
Venue: Away

On Saturday the U12's travelled away to Beggars Bush lane in Bristol to face Clifton College, in the first football match of the season. Playing in the thawing sun on a 3G pitch made for a fast paced game and CSL quickly showed their intent to move the ball wide and try and get in behind the Clifton defence. With fast crisp passing and interplay between midfielders Sam M, Oliver D and MVP Gabriel L the ball was quickly worked wide for flyers Oliver F and Henry JJ to take advantage and open the scoring with two strong shots. The U12's continued to pile on the pressure and fantastic defending and counter attacking from Patrick E and Aidan B enabled more chances coming from out wide and plenty more goals followed. Oliver F added another 3 making his tally 4 in total, Oliver D thundered home a long shot from the edge of the box, Gabriel L in similar fashion and the pick of them all was a fantastic passage of 1 touch football that lead to a first time cross by Henry JJ and first time finish by captain Harry S, who scored 2 in total. Credit to Clifton College for a great attitude and sportsmanship and also to the CSL boys who played for them, Oliver C, Edward RS, Sam M and Gabriel L who scored a fabulous long range goal for the Bristol side. The match finished 9-1 and a solid start with good attacking shape, but lessons to be learned in defence after being caught on the break several times in the second half.
